人生初のフェイバリットアーティストはジェイムス・ブラウン。J.B.を歌い踊る3歳のMizuhoはやがてR&B、ビートルズ、ジャズなどの音楽に深く親しみ、自らの歌の世界を広げて行く。

1998年より箭原顕に師事し、2000年、ボストンのバークリー音楽大学ジャズ・ヴォーカル科へ留学。その卓越したジャズフィーリングと深い情感をたたえた表現力を認められる。2006年、2度目のバークリー留学時にボストンでファーストアルバムを制作し、ソロ活動を開始する。2007年には東京や横浜などのジャズ祭で次々と受賞。以後、数々のステージに立ち、クリスタルのように爽やかで力強い生命力を持つ歌声はジャズというジャンルを超えて多くの聴衆を魅了している。

2008年、2010年の2度に渡り世界的トランぺッター、タイガー大越氏をプロデューサーに迎え、ボストンでアルバムを制作、音楽専門紙で絶賛される。また、ジャズやラテンなど楽曲のグルーヴを損なわない日本語詩もMizuhoの選ぶ言葉のセンスが注目されている。北海道を愛し、そこに住むMizuhoは、彼女の周りにある偉大な自然に多くの影響を受け、その大きな自然の一部であると感じている。

美しい自然のエッセンスが、Mizuhoの独特な声に反映していることは、いうまでもないだろう。現在、札幌を中心に、東京・横浜など全国各地でコンサート活動を行うほか、ラジオ番組のパーソナリティー、ママと子供のためのジャズ・ライブや音楽とコラボレートした読み聞かせ会など幅広い活動を行っている。

Mizuho is a Japanese vocalist now residing in Sapporo, on the beautiful northern island of Hokkaido, Japan.
From birth, Mizuho absorbed many styles of music including American R&B, jazz, blues, rock, and Latin, and she cites favorite artists such as James Brown, The Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Gloria Estefan, and Ella Fitzgerald. In addition, Mizuho grew up listening to the songs and sounds of the Ainu, the indigenous people of Sakhalin and northern Japan.

From 1998, she enrolled at Ken Vocal School in Sapporo, then from 2000 to 2008, she immersed herself in intense vocal training by way of private lessons through Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Ｍusic.
In 2006, her solo career took off with the release of her 1st album “In a sentimental mood” recorded in Boston.

In 2007,　Mizuho began earning jazz vocal honors including the Best Show Performance Award at the well-known jazz competition YOKOHAMA JAZZ　PROMENADE. After that, her frequent tours and live shows helped to hone her skills and stage presence, while in 2008 she met famous trumpet player and Berklee staff member TIGER　OKOSHI, resulting in his production of her next 2CDs, “Tsu-Ba-Sa”(2008) and the recently released “Stars and a Moon” (2010) also recorded Boston.

Mizuho feels most at home performing African- American styles of musical expression but is currently expanding her horizons by performing in ensembles with African percussionists as well as connecting with Japanese audiences on a another level by translating lyrics of some jazz standards into Japanese.

Mizuho is strongly effected by the nature that surrounds her in Hokkaido, so she feels that, being sensitive to that giant cycle of nature, her music reflects the beauty and essence of her surroundings, resulting in the unique voice that is Mizuho.
